SS Media Types
Media Type Description
all Used as the default media type by CSS if nothing else is specified. As a result, any device accessing the site will use this style sheet to render the contents of the page.
braille Used for Braille tactile feedback devices.
embossed Used for Braille printers.
handheld Used for handheld devices, such as PDAs and cell phones.
print Used for printing and print previews.
projection Used for projectors.
screen Used for computer displays.
speech Used for speech synthesizers. There is a complete section of the CSS specification intended for aural representation of data.
tty Used for Teletypes and other devices intended for the hearing impaired.
tv Used for television displays, such as Microsoft's WebTV.

 

Attaching a Printer-Friendly Style Sheet and Styling for Print

You can have your web page printed without having any unnecessary information like the links and advertising that is displayed on the screen. Attaching an external 'printer-friendly' style sheet will give you this add as option. By choosing the file, link, and media for print when you attach a new CSS rule. When you define your new rule do the advanced in the selector type; there you will tell the program and browser what you do not want printed. #tdNavigation for the navigation buttons, in the category list select Block and in the display section select none from the drop down. You can follow the general rules for the sidebars (#tdSidebar), footer links (#tdFooter), and the logo (#tdLogo). But you may and will probably want to keep the logo on the printer-friendly sheet; you can make a new CSS rule with advanced for selector type, #divPrintLogo in the selector field, define on the print.css

Accessing Adobe Device Central

The device central gives you the option to view your web page on several, dozen different devices. When you're desinging a site you may want to make sure it is available and readable on a PDA or cell phone; the Adobe Device Central gives you the ability to view your site and see what it will look like. You will be able scroll, follow the links, and check out the rollovers on your page.
